Research: Statistics

Underage Drinking:

  • 40% of teenagers in rough areas binge drink.
  • 48% of teenagers said that they had got their alcohol from their parents, while 23% of those getting very drunk at least once a month said their main source of alcohol was their parents.
  • An average of 13 under-18s a week end up in hospital because of drinking too much.
  • A survey of 5,205 teenagers showed that those who try to buy alcohol have no problem being served by staff (including some consumers as young as 10).
  • 93% of those aged 10-15 had successfully bought alcohol in pubs/clubs and 84% had made a purchase in shops

I found these statistics within the following article:

Drug Consumption:

This article is in the Daily Telegraph and shows the dangers of laughing gas. For example, a young boy took what he thought was laughing gas but actually it was a toxic gas and he unfortunately passed away.
